Business Development Manager

What you will do

You will actively drive growth through proactive targeting (within defined channels and/or defined vertical markets) of specific accounts or opportunities, incremental to the current business portfolio. The role will expand existing relationships and create net new.

The role is a senior position within the commercial organization, and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold/generate c-level relationships with target prospects and enterprise accounts - the role will generate demand and create enabling frameworks for enterprise engagement, supporting regional/vertical sales teams to explore the created opportunity and close sales. As a self-starter the successful candidate will ensure productivity and effectiveness from all direct and indirect activities. You will focus on defined high value accounts, and lead the enterprise relationship.


How you will do it

Growth plan - develop and own the growth/account plan, focusing on new Customer acquisition along with existing account development. The role is required to define how we will drive strategic growth and take accountability for the vertical market or channel. Specific focus will be applied to the business requirement to source, and review, marketplace intelligence in order to define the primary focus for future sales activities.

Demand generation - work directly at enterprise level and indirectly through local sales team to fully understand the account pipeline, and work actively to source full opportunity portfolio. Liaise with the marketing department to create vertical or channel based value proposition and supporting messages.

Delivery - work across the enterprise to define key delivery metrics and measurable which can be managed at the account level to ensure consistency and effectiveness in delivery.

Solutions - The role will hold responsibility for growth of all product lines within the channel/vertical market. As such the BDM will work closely with the product and solutions group to take the business solutions internalisation strategy and apply this directly to the requirements of the market. Tyco messaging will be created to create opportunity within the sector, whilst retaining consistency with the overall business strategy.

Pricing - develop a pricing strategy to simplify and standardise the approach to the channel / sector to meet the requirements of enterprise and local procurement teams, i.e. how pricing is required to presented to deliver the greatest benefit. Utilise analytics to define how the business could/should grow all revenues and margins from the sector.

Framework agreements - the BDM will take responsibility for aligning existing, and target accounts into commercial frameworks to remove the complexity of the negotiation from the field sales teams.

Field support - supporting regional sales teams at high level decision maker meetings/presentations focused on growth opportunities

CRM - implement and ensure all activities are driven through the CRM system to track core sales metrics (pipeline growth, conversions, whitespacing etc.). Sales activities of public sector sales teams will be reviewed
