Junior Buyer - Manchester

We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our growing Manchester based procurement team. This role will incorporate sub-contract and some materials procurement activities. You will be responsible for requesting quotations, tenders and negotiations for contracts on projects following established tender standards and tools, using a fast turnaround, accurate approach to enable positive high volume tendering results.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the sub contract labour market who enjoys negotiating and purchasing.

This position reports directly to the Sub-Contract team Procurement Manager and will be based at the defined office location to support the business.

How you will do it
Uploads into quote/tendering tool and issues full, consistent document packs to obtain quotations and negotiate with sub-contractors on price and service. Ensures technical inclusion and adherence to issued scope for installation contracts
Achieve cost savings in line with departmental targets
Manages interpersonal relationships with sub-contractor personnel and contributes to the measurement and reporting of performance, advising the Procurement Manager of identified risks and situations with potential to impact business performance.
Assist with report development and analysis
Develops key sub-contractor relationships with focus on commercial aspects
Manages and builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure engagement
Collects, analyses and recommends solutions to quality problems on purchased services

What we look for
Essential
1 - 2 years of active experience in an equivalent professional purchasing position ideally within either Construction, Building Controls, Security or Fire industries, with knowledge of Service and installation project
Good knowledge of purchasing practices and applicable laws and regulations, with sound commercial acumen

Preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience
CIPS qualified or studying towards
Good knowledge of the opportunities, limitations and risks of sub-contract labour sourcing
