CNC Applications Engineer

What you will do
As the CNC Applications Engineer you will be the subject matter expert for the business to identify optimum solutions to ensure tools and the component parts they produce meet requirement on quality, delivery and cost.
We want you to come and help us perfect our tooling knowledge and champion that throughout our site.
You would be working out of our key manufacturing site in Frome which has recently just had over $4.5m of equipment invested into the site and is going to be a globally leading facility for automation in the coming years.

How you will do it
As our CNC Applications Engineer you will be completing 2D/3D drawings/models and machining programmes, developing schedules and accuracy for tool design and manufacture, develop repository for design guidelines, standards and drawings in a centralised library, supporting our current Toolmakers to become self-sufficient CNC Setters and programmers through training and mentoring, participate in the tool design and manufacturing process with tooling and material suppliers to provide management and approval, identify tool design and manufacturing opportunity to reduce design/manufacturing lead times, improve quality, reliability, tool life, product yield and facility projects and initiatives to deliver and you will also need to keep abreast of industry changes by attending expos and events.
In short you will be our CNC subject matter expert and we want you to educate and improve our teams on site and help us to deliver a best in class service.

What we look for

*Apprenticeship level qualification of equivalent
*Proficiency at using 2D/3D CAD/Parametric software including drawing, drafting and design tasks.
*Proficiency in CNC programming, setting and machining
[Preferred Qualifications - Education, Skills & Experience]
*Knowledge of cold runner injection molding and tool design
*Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding/die casting/stamping etc.
*Knowledge of processing techniques such as stress relief, heat treatment, plating etc.
*Knowledge of drafting fundamentals including orthographic views and standard dimensioning practices
*Knowledge of Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma
