Electronic Test and Analysis Engineer- Guildford- up to £45k

My client, a global leader within the Security and Defence industry, are looking for an Electronic Test and Analysis Engineer to come and join their Wireless and Network Security Product team in Guildford for a permanent opportunity.

Roles and responsibilities

Electronics Test and Analysis Engineers operate across the full engineering lifecycle and accountabilities include:

Analysing and defining hardware and software requirements for test systems and processes.
Designing and implementing test systems to meet requirements.
Undertaking test and commissioning activities on prototype, pre-production and production-level electronic systems.
Assessing pass/fail criteria
Undertaking first and second line fault finding and analysis.
Working with our contract electronic manufacturing sub-contractors to specify and implement corrective measures to address encountered faults.

Electronics Test and Analysis Engineers will develop a strong technical skill set which will include:

Understanding and applying engineering test processes
Programming, deploying and operating ATE and complex test equipment
Analysis and interpretation of test data
Communicating with a broader engineering team
Providing advice on appropriate testing approaches
Applying digital, analog and RF electronic engineering principles to provide solutions to practical engineering problems.
Developing and applying modelling and design tools to solve practical problems with electrical products
Diagnosis of faults with electronic hardware

Electronics Test and Analysis Engineers develop engineering competencies which include:

Completes engineering tasks as directed by the project or team leader under supervision

Core Senior Engineer accountabilities:

Completes engineering tasks autonomously
Follows test process and good practice
Implements complex test infrastructure in their area of expertise
Interprets and reports on activity to project or team leader in verbal and written form
Provides accurate estimates of effort required to complete significant tasks

Skills and experience

Engineering or science-based degree, HNC or HND or equivalent experience
Familiarity the theoretical and practical principles of RF, analog and digital electronics.
Familiarity with basic and advanced electronic components and their in-circuit functionality.
Experience working in a live production environment, delivering against tight timescales and being adaptable to frequent changes in requirements.
Competent in reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, with respect to PCB assemblies and systems.
Fault-finding ability down to component level.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders.
Ability to use both basic equipment (digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies) and advanced equipment (spectrum analysers, network analysers, function generators).
Competent with the Linux operating environment
Experience using scripting and automation software such as LabVIEW, Python, Bash or similar
Competent with Microsoft Office suite applications.

An SC level security clearance is required for this role, and candidates should already have, or be capable of obtaining UK SC clearance.
