Job description

Electronics Engineer - Central Scotland

My client is a highly dynamic and successful business that is involved in the ongoing development, manufacturing and support of electronic and ANPR innovations.

The role:
- Design develop and support solutions for embedded video systems
- Sustainment and maintenance of our current and future hardware systems
- Provide technical input as part of overall solution from R&D through ongoing production
- Support manufacturing, installation and support teams
- Develop Technical documentation e.g. technical file, assembly & test and site commissioning
- Prepare and present ECR (Engineering Change Request) submissions to product change control board
- Direct hardware programming of embedded microprocessors
- Prototyping - electronics, mechanical and software integration
- Design and build of test jigs
- Troubleshooting and repair to board and component level
- May be required to go on site/work outdoors occasionally
- Manage, maintain and record work assignments to ensure they are achieved within business required timescales
- Communicate with line management on a frequent basis as to the status of outstanding works held under your responsibility
- Prioritise work as instructed to enable accurate planning for all tasks. In the absence of such instruction use own expertise and knowledge of the customer requirements to prioritise work
- Proactively manage own material, equipment holding and expedite replacements
- Where required ensure documentation is updated after every issue or engineering change is completed and that new issues are logged using the systems and processes you are directed to employ

SKILLS:

- BSc (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of full-time hardware development experience
- Experience in Altium PCB and Schematic Capture (or equivalent) for multilayer high-speed PCBs
- Proficient with test equipment such as serial-data analysers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers
- Experience with protocols such as USB3.x, TTL Serial, TCP/IP, GSM, GPS, and WiFi protocols
- Proficient soldering skills of SMT/SMD component

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- Solidworks
- Programming embedded microprocessors such as ARM Cortex or PIC using C/C++
- Supplier Relationship Management of 3rd party suppliers
- Ability to troubleshoot ANPR systems and hardware to board and component level
- Critical thinking skills
- Decision making skills
- Analytical skills
- Understanding of self-limitations and when to ask for help
- Have confidence in dealing with customers at all levels and provide a credible and professional approach.
- Proven competency at solving customer problems, priority setting and delivering results quickly.
- A high degree of customer focus
- Self-control and calm nature in high-pressured situations
