Job description

Our client is a UK FTSE-listed company and one of the largest event organisers in the world. They specialise in running market-leading events in emerging markets and are one of the world's leading organisers of international trade exhibitions and conferences.

The company is based in London and employs over 1,100 staff around the world. Their new Asia region headquarters in Hong Kong oversees our operations in India, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia and we have ambitious plans to continue their fast growth.

For the first time, since the events inception in 1983, they are now looking for a talented, experienced and ambitious event director to take the lead in driving the future development and growth of this outstanding, blue ribband event.

Job Purpose:

The company is headquartered in Hong Kong but has offices in Shenzhen and Shanghai, the position reports into the board of directors of the Joint Venture.

You will be responsible for running the events, including responsibility for event sales, event operations, marketing including content to exhibitors/visitors alongside event strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting.

Key Responsibilities:

*Maintain and sustain the shows leading position in the industry
*Lead and direct activities of the sales team and execution of marketing strategies to define and deliver world class experiences for the vendors and visitors while also delivering a combination of higher revenue and profits
*Plan, execute, grow and deliver the best possible customer experiences for the events while balancing the financial needs of the business
*Manage the full event P&L including tracking, forecasting internal reporting to senior leadership
*Develop theme for the events from time to time and make sure that theme carries through the onsite experience
*Deliver superior customer solutions by identifying what the industry needs and problems that need to be solved
*Drive implementation of new initiatives and best practice in line with global prestige of the exhibition industry in the world
*Participate actively in the industry, developing and maintaining relationships, working with advisory boards, cultivating a network of industry experts and leaders.

Job Requirements:

*Possess a good degree and with more than 10 years of experience in a customer-focussed environment and/or related field
*Direct experience in creating, developing and managing a high performing sales team an advantage, ability to growth and expand the show to next level
*Excellent commercial skills and the ability to proactively oversee budgets and related financial processes, including tightly managing approvals and risks across the various stages of event development and delivery.
*Has at least ten years' experience managing events of scale of at least 40-50k sqm / net and can clearly demonstrate how you have driven growth through continued development and process improvements
*Team-oriented and collaborative with the ability to manage relationships with internal and external partners
*Ability to build business rapport to both internal and external stakeholders
*Pragmatic and prepared to "roll sleeves up" where necessary
*Comfortable in a fast paced and constantly-changing environment
*Professional level knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
*Fluent English is preferable. Mandarin and Cantonese an advantages, but can also consider English-speaking only candidates
