Infrastructure Automation Specialist (Linux) - Enterprise Security Platforms - Glasgow

My client is a highly dynamic and globally successful financial services organisation. They currently have an opportunity for a Linux Automation engineer to join their team in Glasgow.

The role will be part of the enterprise security group. Enterprise Security Platforms (ESP) enables the Firm to manage risk by implementing proactive, comprehensive and consistent risk management and security practices and infrastructure which protect the franchise while facilitating business functions.

Primary Responsibility: -This role is for a Mid to Senior level Linux System Administrator to help manage ESP's portfolio of Linux servers. This role will be responsible for working with L3 Security Infrastructure teams and Engineering to gather requirements, create design and implementation plans, and work with other groups to deploy and provide support for security infrastructure applications.
-The ideal candidate has significant experience working in a large distributed computing environment, is familiar with configuration management systems and methodologies, and is capable of rapidly learning the intricacies of the bank's unique infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
- Work with security operations and engineering teams to gather deployment requirements
- Work with company-wide Unix/Linux Engineering to ensure new and existing deployments meet firm-mandated standards
- Provide ongoing support for ESP owned Linux assets, assisting in triage and outage resolution
- Work with global colleagues to create and maintain globally consistent processes, policies and procedures and provide innovative ideas around future improvements
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve escalated OS issues impacting application deployment and operation and undertake problem ownership and related follow-ups
- Provide constructive feedback where necessary while working with colleagues
- Identify areas for automation and scripting

Required Skills:
- Linux Administration (preferably in large/distributed environments)
- Strong overall infrastructure knowledge
- Strong Networking and storage skills
- Experience in full-stack troubleshooting
- Intermediate experience working with any scripting language (examples: Python, Bash/Shell and Perl)
- Must be a strong individual contributor with a proven history of team-work and cross-silo problem solving
- Open minded and willing to listen to all possible solutions to technical issues, implementing the consensus
- Proven problem solver, we are looking for someone who goes beyond identifying problems, a track record of fixing identified problems is key
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills: capable of writing documentation, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management, colleagues and customers.

Desired Skills:
- Understanding of emerging IT Trends (e.g.: cloud computing, Agile, DevOps). Experience Requirements:
- Experience Unix administration is desired.
