Oracle DBA - Central Scotland

My client is a highly dynamic and successful IT Services and Consultancy organisation with a strong presence across the UK.

They currently have an opportunity for an experienced Oracle DBA to join their team in Central Scotland.

The role will involve working as a strategic part of a client support/delivery project.

You will be responsible for:
- Provide a mature support service, with a particular focus on system improvement, featuring;
- system improvement recommendations
- batch job and bottleneck targeting and eradication
- database performance optimisation routines
- identifying alternative database platforms, to reduce cost

Monitor and optimise database server configurations to
- reduce cost of ownership
- improve service levels
- optimise disk management
- assist with the tuning of database performance
- conduct, record and review system performance tests, feeding back recommendations

Provide management of database software patching, new releases and upgrades
- administer and maintain the database software to agreed release levels
- test, install and maintain associated application systems in test and production environment

Technical skills:
Oracle RDBMS
Microsoft SQL Server

There will also be an opportunity to cross skill with Devops
