What you will do
The role will be instrumental in driving growth and profitability through the fire & security business by 1) improving win rates, 2) improving secured and executed margin performance, and 3) increasing percentage of multi-solution sales. The proposals manager will be a key player in opportunity win teams and it is expected that the successful candidate will take great pride in their work and be a champion of quality at all times.

The role will be office based in the Centre of Excellence, and includes direct leadership of a design team along with general leadership as part of the design management team - the successful candidate will bring a 'work winning' mindset into all conversations.

How you will do it
The proposals manager will provide first line leadership to a team of proposals engineers, and will have responsibility for meeting all defined performance KPI's along with development of the competencies of their team. Whilst the proposals manager will hold leadership for the defined team, it is expected the successful candidate will have the ability to work with peers to ensure we have the right resources focused on the most impactful opportunities, and also work collectively to drive department goals and objectives.

Critically the proposal manager will be the lead contact to defined field sales team, and therefore the relationship with the sales management is community is vital to success and achievement of objectives. The proposals and sales management team will work together, within a defined rhythm/process to drive incremental gains in performance and productivity as a collective. The proposals manager will work with the sales managers to prioritise target opportunities, and plan/schedule work to meet business objectives.

What we look for
You will require a strong core technical skill set to enable effective review of solutions and to positively challenge proposals engineers to ensure they create winning solutions, and accurate cost bases. The successful candidate will demonstrate commercial tenacity and actively ensure our win themes/differentiators are evidenced in the work developed by the proposals engineers.

Driving engagement with field sales is critical and quality of solutions, proposals documents and general interaction is the primary focus for the proposals manager. It is expected that much of the best practices developed within the sales management organisation will be leveraged by proposals managers for performance management, development and continuous improvement. Proven experience in designing solutions for fire detection, and/or security systems (or related electrical/building services solutions)

Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent)
Specific training associated with technical standards, codes or industry related programmes
Ideally some form of management / leadership training
