Fran Beckley

People Director

Please provide a brief background about yourself:

I started my career in recruitment and then moved into the recruitment technology space with SourceBreaker where I set up and grew our customer success function, before moving over to head up our People function.

How would you describe your day-to-day role?

I am responsible for hiring for the company, dealing with HR, employee engagement initiatives, DE&I and learning and development. Every day is different and it’s a very varied role.

What led you to choose a career in this field?

I’m invested in making work as good as it possibly can be, and I feel that this role gives me the opportunity to listen to what our employees want and deliver on that, while also promoting fairness and inclusivity.

What convinced you to apply for your current role?

I made the move internally as it became clear that the customer success function was in a good place, with great emerging leaders, so moving over to a new role within the business was an interesting new challenge.

What’s the most exciting part of your role?

It’s great to see people that I met on first stage interviews, go right through the hiring process and then see them flourish in their new roles.

What’s the most challenging part of your role?

Inconsistency of tasks can sometimes mean that there are peaks where I have a huge workload, so prioritising during those times can be hard.

How is working where you are now different from previous roles you’ve had?

It’s great - I have always felt very valued and able to contribute new ideas, and it’s really good to be surrounded by so many ambitious and hardworking people.

What is your greatest accomplishment since starting out?

I think that growing the customer success team having never done customer success before was a real accomplishment as I had to learn everything from scratch, and use some trial and error to understand how we could be the most successful.

What’s the best piece of advice you would offer to future women in their careers?

Take personal responsibility for your own learning and development, ask what you need to do to progress and work hard to do it, and know your worth
